10 Video Game Villains You Didn't Want To Kill

1. Handsome Jack - Borderlands

The man with the biggest ego on the entire planet, after his daughter, Angel, was born a siren, Handsome Jack enslaves her and uses her for his own selfish means. Throughout Borderlands 2, Jack taunts and berates the player with radio messages, and we grow to hate him just as much as he grows to hate us.

Eventually, we are given the opportunity to kill him, but even if the player character refuses to, he's killed anyway.

In Tales from the Borderlands, we are given yet another choice of whether or not to kill the last remaining part of Handsome Jack, as a data copy. Depending on the player’s choices, we are left once again with the choice of whether to kill or spare our beloved villain.

For someone who has given us so much trouble over the years, we can’t help but love Handsome Jack. Perhaps gaming’s most misunderstood villain to date, killing Jack twice felt like killing a friend, someone we’ve admired for years, who had provided adventure and laughter and liberation.

But then again, the guy kept calling us villains, and that stuff just irks you, you know?

Handsome Dick.
