2. Mr Toots - Red Faction Armageddon
Red Faction: Armageddon is as serious a shooter as you'll find. Like the other Red Faction games, it involves political intrigue, corporate greed, and fascism, focusing on an ongoing war between workers and their masters.
And then Volition went and added Mr Toots.
Mr Toots is a sparkly, rainbow-horned unicorn that is carried around like a stuffed animal by your character. When squeezed, however, he produces a multi-coloured energy weapon from his, well...his ass.
Mr Toots was granted to all players of the game after one million demos were downloaded. Once that benchmark was hit, Mr Toots was added to the game, available after the completion of a regular playthrough.
It's never explained how or why something that looks like it escaped from a Brony con made its way to Mars, or what enchantments allow it to fire lasers. Players may feel a bit of guilt using Mr Toots, because he looks pretty content while being carried, yet a little distraught when being squeezed as a weapon of mass destruction.
The devs assure us, however, that using Mr Toots causes him no pain, just mild annoyance.
Which is good, because you don't want guilt as you're giggling at your unicorn destroying buildings and enemies alike.
