3. The Hand Cannon - Dead Space 2
Foam fingers are, generally, a peaceful thing. Sure, maybe you could poke the person in front of you at a hockey game or wrestling event with the foam tip, but the odds of seriously hurting them are very, very slim.
Dead Space 2 takes that logic and shreds it.
The Hand Cannon is a literal foam hand, bright red and illustrated with the outline of an extended finger. It's the most overpowered weapon in the game, earned as a reward for beating the game on the extremely difficult Hardcore mode.
It's a callback to every time we played 'Guns' as kids, using our index finger and thumb as the gun. The best part? Your player character Isaac even makes 'Bang Bang' or 'Pew Pew' sounds, depending on which firing mode you're using.
The aesthetic of the gun doesn't go at all with the game, it looks completely ridiculous when you're using it while wearing an elaborate armoured suit, and it's an absolute blast to use. It's hard to take the dire situations Isaac finds himself in as seriously when he's saying 'Bang Bang' every few seconds while vapourizing necromorphs.
