10 Video Games To Finally Be Excited About In 2014

9. Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ps7puWAz1E The Lord of the Rings movie series is no stranger to video games. In fact, it produced a very underrated hack-and-slash title to coincide with 2002's The Two Towers. It was good, solid fun. But while that game was very worthy of the epic film it represented, it lacked depth. Developers Monolith recently unveiled Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, releasing for PC and next-gen consoles. Taking place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings films, Shadow of Mordor promises to deliver the ultimate Tolkien gaming experience. Players take control of Talion, a ranger who has been killed alongside his family by Sauron's forces. With vengeance in his heart, Talion is resurrected with new powers and heads into Mordor to enact his crusade. This concept puts you into the middle of an expansive, ever-changing open world environment. As you hunt down the beasts who killed your family, the Nemesis System creates an incredible amount of variation for the player. That Uruk who barely avoided death at the edge of your blade? He's working as a slaver now, and he remembers you. Your wraith-like powers also allow you to poison his mind, letting you have your way with his fragile psyche. Shadow of Mordor is looking more and more like it will also be one of the most gorgeous games of this year, as well. It's hyper-realistic, polished look is absolutely perfect to bring Tolkien's world to life just in the same way Peter Jackson's film series did. Launching in early October of this year, Shadow of Mordor is one of the most anticipated action-adventure games of the year, so get your wallet ready.
