The sole Xbox-exclusive game on the list, Cuphead is perhaps one of the Xbox One's most important games. It took an awfully long time to arrive, but when it did, Cuphead blew people away with its charm. From a purely review score standpoint, Cuphead is one of the stronger Xbox One titles, but it doesn't stop there. An indie game developed by a small team of people, Cuphead is a real treat.
Playing as either Cuphead or his brother Mugman in co-op, the player must traverse a gauntlet of insanely difficult boss battles and run and gun segments to collect the souls of those who defaulted on their debts to The Devil himself.
The game is renowned for two things - its brutal, unforgiving difficulty and its stunningly gorgeous art style.
Demanding perfection and a thorough knowledge of the game's workings from the player to survive, the absolute best part about Cuphead is its glorious art, which has been hand-animated frame by frame to resemble 1930s cartoons.
From the wonderfully fluid expressions to that oddly sinister undertone that often accompanied that style of animation, Cuphead is pure expression.
