10 Video Games People HATED (Until They Didn't)

2. Fortnite

When Fortnite first released, you'd never have thought that one day it would be not only the most popular game in the entire world, but one of the most recognisable properties across all of media.

The original release of Fortnite – the Save the World variant – failed to set the world alight in the way Epic really wanted it to. In fact it really wasn't on many people's radars at all, and those who tried it didn't stick with it for very long.

It wasn’t until someone at Epic HQ had the bright idea to copy what PUBG was doing really well and implement a Battle Royale mode that Fortnite about exploded in popularity.

The rise of Fortnite was truly incredible; it became something more than a game, instead becoming a social environment for countless gamers across the world. It’s had countless events, hosted concerts with real-life artists, and is crammed full of popular characters from other media from Avengers to the actual Rock himself.

It's still got its critics, but its continued, ongoing success is absolutely undeniable at this point. People love Fortnite now, but they definitely didn't originally.
