10 Video Games People HATED (Until They Didn't)

3. Star Wars: Battlefront II

The original incarnation of Star Wars: Battlefront II was far, far away from what fans wanted it be.

Like the evil Galactic Empire they are, EA decided to make their version of Battlefront II be completely riddled from head to toe in hideous microtransactions. They even went so far as to gate fan favourite characters such as Darth Vader behind ridiculous grinds to unlock, trying to squeeze more money out of players.

The game was so infested with the microtransactions, that developers DICE had to literally completely revamp it to remove all aspects of the old systems, which took a significant amount of time after release to get sorted.

If you played it today, the Battlefront II experience is massively different from what it used to be. In fact, it's probably the best way out there to experience the full thrill of Star Wars' epic battles, with everything horrible about microtransactions purged in favour of delivering the game the developers no doubt wanted to make in the first place.

It's good to see gamers pushing back against bullsh*t like EA tried to pull with this one, and - in the end - we got the game we deserved here.
