10 Video Games That Just Got DELAYED

9. Dune: Awakening

With the overwhelming cinematic success of Denis Villeneuve's Dune series, a lot of space has been created for tie-ins, merchandise and expanded offerings. These include TV show Dune: Prophecy, set 10,000 years before the films and focusing on the Bene Gesserit religious sisterhood; as well as the video game Dune: Awakening.

Developed by Funcom, Awakening is a survival game set in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet’s character in the film) never existed, and Arrakis finds itself caught in a civil war between Houses Atreides and Harkonnen. Players control an undercover agent working for the Bene Gesserit, tasked with tracking down the missing Fremen (Arrakis natives).

Now, the game was originally announced in 2022, and was set to be released on the 20th of May 2025 for Windows. But Funcom have been feeling the pressure ahead of their proposed release date, and have opted to keep it in beta longer in order to get everything just right (@ Radio Times). But fear not, PC gamers - their delay has only pushed the release back to the 10th of June this year. PS5 and Xbox devotees, however, will have to wait until an unspecified “later date”.
