10 Video Games That Killed Off The Wrong Character
7. Frank West - Dead Rising 4
What is the single biggest character assassination in all of video games? No it isn't Sylvanas or Thrall, or really anybody left alive in Warcraft. Although they do come damn close.
Frank West used to be a verifiable video game mascot for the Xbox. He wasn't some macho badass that swung fists and sweated protein shakes. Frank was just a regular guy, kinda flabby, a bit behind on the whole 'zombie' thing, and honestly just trying to make a quick buck.
When he came back in his own "what if?" scenario for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record fans were thrilled. He was chubbier, balder, and while a little too competent he still had that winning Frank West charm.
So clearly the only smart move was to change him entirely and then kill him off in Dead Rising 4. Instead of say Nick Ramos or Chuck Greene - the two infinitely worse - and far more stereotypical macho protagonists of the Dead Rising franchise. Who out there would have really missed those two?
At least Frank can finally rest in peace, safe in the knowledge that it's all over.
Wait, there's a DLC where he's a zombie now? Jesus Christ, Capcom.
