10 Video Games That Made Their Creators Leave The Industry
1. Mass Effect: Andromeda
After almost a decade of working in the games industry as a senior editor, BioWare's Cameron Harris announced her permanent departure from the business in 2016, having worked extensively on games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and finally, Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Though Harris was certainly diplomatic about her reasons for leaving BioWare - "to return to Seattle for new opportunities there" - the timing of her exit left many fans suspicious, given that the lead writers for Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda, David Gaider and Chris Schlerf, both quit mere weeks prior.
This further stoked fears about Andromeda's production being in trouble, which of course turned out to be completely true a year later when the game finally shipped and was a colossal disappointment.
Stories have since done the rounds about Andromeda's extremely troubled development, and while we wouldn't want to put words in Harris' mouth, it's no leap at all to suggest the game's torturous production is what prompted her and others to leave the company - and in her case, the industry too.
