10 Video Games That Made You PAY EXTRA For The Ending
4. Dying Light
Dying Light was an action-packed romp through a Turkish city filled with zombies. It ended with a brutal fight atop a zombie-filled tower and the main bad guy getting thrown from the roof. The main character, Kyle Crane, decides to abandon his initial mission and stay in the city to help the survivors within. Seems like a pretty good ending, in our opinion, sure.
But then the Following DLC expansion pack came out which opens to some time later and rumors of a cult that has developed a cure are spreading through the city. Crane opts to infiltrate the cult in order to find out if the cure is real and he learns it most certainly is not. In reality it's a half-measure that turns the infected user into a sentient zombie during the day and a feral beast at night.
The player now has a few options - fight the final boss and become infected with the sentient zombie potion and go wild or nuke the whole city and kill everyone. Either way it's not a fun time and either way it not only basically kills the main character, but also dooms everyone he was trying to save.
