10 Video Games That Make You A Better Gamer
1. Breath Of The Wild
Anybody who knows me or who has read my the articles knows that I have the ultimate soft soft for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It's a true masterpiece of a game, though let's get onto the main point of why this game makes players better, otherwise this entry will be longer than the rest of the article.
Breath of the Wild has been commended for taking one of the most formulaic franchises and throwing out half of the formula, making a game which is genuinely challenging with many bosses and even standard enemies who can one-shot you. This, in a sense, makes the game similar to the previous entry about Dark Souls, for you need to simply get better at avoiding attacks and choosing the best time to strike if you don't want to die to every enemy which you encounter.
However, Breath of the Wild is so much more. Some of the shrine puzzles are genuinely challenging, forcing players to think outside of the box in the same way which they would in games like Portal. As well as that, the overworld contains such an advanced physics engine that it seems as though you're only limited to what you can do by your own imagination.
If it starts raining and you need to get up a cliff you could wait for the rain to end - alternatively you could find some shelter, make a large bonfire, and use the updraft with your glider to ascend the cliff. This is one of a thousand examples of how playing Breath of the Wild makes you think about gaming differently, and will no doubt give you some skills which you can apply to many different games.
