10 Video Games That Only Became Great After Updates
1. GTA Online
With players still amazed by the job Rockstar did with GTA V. The next big update to look forward to with the game was the addition of Online play. Sure, other games in the series had offered online experiences before, but these were nothing more than glorified deathmatches. This was going to be the real thing, playing with your friends, running your gang, oh and of course heists.
On 1st October 2013, thousands of players rushed to join GTA Online, and it was ok. There were missions and some free roam objectives, but not much more than that. You could try to have fun with your friends in a free roam session, but you would most probably just be griefed by players with a jet. But it was ok because Heist would make it better.
Two years later after a number of small updates Heist was added, by this point many had stopped playing. After this point, Rockstar would learn from their mistakes and add more regular updates. The re-release would see a massive player base increase and a number of player requested updates. Rockstar probably did many other things in the two years, but at the time it felt like GTA Online was done. You wouldn’t guess that if you see it today, with all its flying cars and casinos.
