10 Video Games That Only Became Great After Updates

6. Destiny

GTA online
Bungie

An online-based sci-fi shooter, with RPG systems from the company that brought us Halo. A lot of people were excited about this release.

Destiny was one of the first big titles to premiere on the new generation of consoles. It was going to show us what they could do and connect us with other players. It did do that, but it took a bit of time to get off the ground.

Upon the release of Destiny, it was praised for its graphics and strong shooting mechanics. Of course, though it also received some criticism. It was seen that the story was short and quite hollow, the game felt empty. Apart from grinding for certain gear and some Arena PVP, players were quickly yearning for something to do.

Over the course of the next couple of years multiple updates and expansions would be released for Destiny, varying from raids all the way up to new stories. Now it is seen as something of a modern classic.

Compare the complete edition to the original, however, and you can see why some players became quickly bored. A factor that would be mirrored in Destiny 2.
