7. The Elder Scrolls Online
It seems that over the past ten years so many MMO’s have been released. Whether it’s based on a game series, film or original IP there are a lot of online games. The problem is that most of them aren’t good. A majority take the free to play route while old favourites such as Wow can retain their monthly subscriptions.
When the Elder Scrolls Online was announced, it was to mixed opinions. On one hand this is a single-player series that can’t translate well to online gaming. On the other, it’s Elder Scrolls.
If anyone can pull it off, it’s this series.
So, The Elder Scrolls Online was released on pc with a subscription-based system. It didn’t start well.
Combine an overpriced monthly subscription with a lack of content and multiple glitches and you’ve got a recipe for disaster, the game suffered.
They later released the game as a one-time purchase with an optional subscription to coincide with the release onto Xbox One and PS4. This combined with the later content release and well-received expansions would help the game to become a much better example of a successful MMO.
