3. Minecraft
The cultural phenomenon that is Minecraft seems to never fully leave the public consciousness. Its popularity may wane only to come back fighting. It wasn’t all Bee updates and Mine Cons though this game came from almost nothing.
First released to the public back in 2009, Minecraft classic as it is now referred to, was a much different experience. Back then, Minecraft was nothing more than a game where you could build rudimentary structures out of blocks. No mobs, No survival just you and your imagination.
What first started as a side project by one man would grow in popularity and scope to become a gaming phenomenon. As features such as multiplayer and mod support was added members of the gaming press and YouTubers would be drawn to this game, heightening its popularity.
As the years progressed Minecraft would be given care in the form of free updates, varying from Animals and mobs all the way up to villagers. This game would see multiple releases on a massive number of systems and would find it place in pop culture history.
