10 Video Games That Only Make Sense If You Bought The DLC
6. Dishonored - A Prequel And A Sequel
Although they moved the action away from Corvo's espionage adventure in the first Dishonored, the two substantial expansion packs released for the title, The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches, were pretty much essential in getting the full picture of the main narrative.
Moving away from Corvo's story and instead casting players as Daud, the assassin who killed the Empress at the beginning of the main game and set its entire plot into motion, the two expansions acted as both a prequel and sequel that intertwined and diverged from this original narrative.
Covering Daud's life leading up to the assassination and his subsequent attempts at redemption, at multiple points the expansions actually converge with the major beats of the original title, offering a view of major plot points from an entirely new perspective that completely alters their meaning.
In a lot of ways these DLC packs are actually tighter and more focused than the original Dishonored, but their stories wouldn't be anywhere near as impactful if that game hadn't laid the groundwork for the DLC to shake things up.
