10 Video Games That Punish You For Cheating

5. Sending The Death Star After You - Afterlife

Runescape
LucasArts

Time for a bit of a deep cut now, with LucasArts' classic god game Afterlife, where you're tasked with the novel concept of building Heaven and Hell to both reward and punish the local planet's citizenry.

This being a LucasArts game and all, it's not terribly surprising that it includes some nods to the Star Wars franchise, though nobody quite saw this coming.

Though the game has numerous cheat codes, the most useful of which allows players to instantly generate masses of money, there's an internal limit on how much you can do this with impunity.

Get greedy and keep spamming cheat codes for more cash and you'll eventually receive the text prompt, "I feel a disturbance in the Force..." At this moment, the Death Star will appear on your planet and start shooting up the nearby buildings you've so slavishly built.

On one hand, that's a supremely annoying slap on the wrist, but on the other, it's the damn Death Star.
