10 Video Games That Released At The WORST Possible Time
7. Beyond Good & Evil
Taking a look at the fall of 2003, you’d think I was joking when I listed the amount of absolute classics released within October to November.
To start with, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto III on Xbox, as well as Tony Hawk's Underground and Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain. In early November we have Fire Emblem and True Crime: Streets of LA, leading up to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Mario Party 5.
Alright, alright, games are made and games are released, we get it. The point is, that is an absolutely stacked line up, irrelevant of what market you’re trying to hit for the holiday season.
In regard to tone, Beyond Good & Evil lodges itself in the cartoonish, comfy area between the likes of Ratchet & Clank or Banjo & Kazooie. There’s nothing wrong with it but overall, you don’t need to be a release coordinator to realise why going against the above lot is a bad idea. Like, really, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Max Payne 2?!
Though, there's clearly some love for the game, as in 2017 a cinematic trailer was released at E3 to hype up the release of a sequel which will eventually come out, we think.
