10 Video Games That Released At The WORST Possible Time
6. State Of Decay
It’s clear that in 2013 there were some serious decisions to be made in regards to how best to tackle the upcoming console releases.
State of Decay and our next entry, as well as The Pre-Sequel, seemed to have been perplexed by their options of launch. Releasing near or around the next generation of consoles can be a weird process, as you’re not sure if you want to keep your original plan or delay and make the most of the new hardware.
Consumers would say delay, to make it easier for us to choose but if you get a game out in two generations, you’ve got a lot more chances to sell.
This is exactly what State of Decay did. However, it released its next-gen port two years after the Xbox One launched, to mixed reviews nonetheless. How did the original fair, then? It went against the likes of Hotline Miami and Remember Me, in the downloadable market.
On a bigger scale it was fighting the likes of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Deadpool and oh yeah, The Last Of Us.
All I’m saying is, if you need a zombie killing fix, are you buying State of Decay or The Last Of Us?
