10 Video Games That Reused Bosses (And Made Them BETTER)

6. Selvaria (Valkyria Chronicles)

Halo reach
Sega

The first Valkyria Chronicles game has a regular enemy you must deal with - one of the titular Valkyries who faithfully serves the Big Bad Evil Guy. The first two times you fight her, she is an absolute nuisance. She can one-shot basically any human character and with a solid hit can even destroy your tank - ending your game entirely. She’s also totally invincible.

The third, and final, time you fight her she decides to fight you as a mortal woman. Congratulations, this means you can actually do damage to her! That doesn’t necessarily make her any easier to fight, but at least it means you can win.

The epic confrontation against this woman who has been an absolute destructive force against your army and the chance to finally best her and kill her in combat makes the third battle all the more enjoyable. Ignoring her back story, just knowing she’s beatable is a huge boon to the fight's tone and technique.
