Sequel: Final Fantasy XIII-2

Final Fantasy XIII wasn't exactly the most beloved instalment in the Final Fantasy series. The characters weren't very interesting, and the story was fairly linear. But that's fine. Final Fantasy is a long-running franchise and was bound to hit some bumps on the way. Square Enix can take it on the chin and move on, right?

Welp, Square Enix did not take the L or any rational decision as they steamed ahead in creating two sequels. Oh, joy!

FFXIII had ended with a satisfactory conclusion, which Square Enix promptly unravelled to continue the story. The problem was this decision made the plot all the more confusing. FFXIII-2 was a cake-walk compared to the original.

FFXIII: Lightning Returns only proceeded to mess up the story more, leading to a very unsatisfying conclusion. FFXIII was, by far, the most unnecessary trilogy ever.
