Sequel: Star Wars Battlefront 2

Star Wars really doesn't have much luck with its sequels.

This tragic story started with EA deciding to revitalise the insanely popular Battlefront series for the modern-day gamer. The first instalment was fine; the graphics and sound design were impressive, with its realistic atmosphere taking a page from Battlefield's book. Sure, there were server issues, and it took forever to get a hero or vehicle, but EA was already charging ahead with Battlefront II, which would feature the Sequels and Prequels armies duking it out.

Things went quickly downhill, however, mainly due to massive backlash over microtransactions. Playing as Vader would set you back over $80, and EA proceeded to make history with the most downvoted Reddit comment ever:

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

Players were, quite literally, not buying it. The game even made it to national courts of law over worries about gambling. EA could have easily implemented more armies into Battlefront as DLC, yet EA is now forever seen as a company in it for the cash grab.
