10 Video Games That Start Hard But Get A Lot Easier Later On

6. Mass Effect

Zelda Link To The Past
Bioware

Despite the fact that he goes on to save the galaxy on several occasions, Mass Effect's Commander Shepard isn't the toughest soldier in the world at the beginning of the first game. He starts off with relatively weak weapons, basic armour, and minimal abilities, depending on which class you choose.

As the game goes on, however, Shepard starts to bulk up. He gets much stronger armour and deadly weapons, as well as the ability to learn all sorts of bionic powers and tech skills, able to create psychic shields and hack into robotic enemies at will, making firefights a lot more manageable and much more fun.

In the late stages of the game, you're still facing off against many of the same enemy types that you encountered in the opening hours. They stay the same, while you get more and more powerful, as well as finding new friends and party members to help you out in combat, making Mass Effect much easier as you play.
