10 Video Games That Start Hard But Get A Lot Easier Later On

5. Dark Cloud

Zelda Link To The Past
Square

Dark Cloud is a classic action RPG, released exclusively for the PS2. It was an excellent game with a thrilling story, but many players never saw it all the way through, with some even giving up right at the start due to the game's torturous first dungeon.

At the beginning of the game, your weapon seems to break non-stop and you barely have any items to help you out. You also have no way to access a shop, so if you happen to run out of something critical, like Repair Powder, you're more or less doomed.

The dungeons are randomly generated too, which adds an element of luck to each playthrough, and players often found themselves in tricky dungeon layouts without any easy access to healing areas. The dungeon's first boss, Dran, is also an absolute nightmare to defeat, so it's no surprise that many players gave up on Dark Cloud without seeing the latter stages, which are a lot easier.
