10 Video Games That Survived Embarrassing Launches
2. Halo: Master Chief Collection
Porting older generation games is now so common place, you can't go far now without seeing a title with "HD" attached to it. Some are even completely rebuilt, a la Shadow of the Colossus.
So Halo, then, should have been an absolute no brainer when it came to porting a whole collection of games to the Xbox One. Except, "no brainer" felt like the level of effort that had gone into it once 343 had taken over from Bungie. It was buggy, had dodgy connection issues and was an all-round mess. Considering Halo's biggest draw was its multiplayer, fans weren't happy.
But time has been kind to the MCC, and continued support has allowed to flourish. Adding new playable titles has certainly helped, as has the inclusion of PC and cross-platform supported progression and play.
It shows that time has indeed been kind, whilst also highlighting the inherent difficulties in what many see as "straightforward ports".
