10 Video Games That Were Too Good To Be True

9. Call Of Duty World War 2

Fallout 76

The unprecedented success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare led to a seismic shift in the FPS genre on consoles. Suddenly WW2 shooters were largely ditched in favour of battles between current-day western armies and bands of nefarious nonspecific foreign terrorists. However, when the series attempted to incorporate science fiction elements into new titles, sales suffered, and Activision made the decision to return to its roots with 2017's Call of Duty WW2.

With nearly a decade having passed since the release of Call of Duty: World at War, WW2 was expected to bring the genre into the new generation with a bang, but instead was a game that was ultimately just okay, lacking the ambition of its contemporaries and being largely forgettable unlike previous instalments.

WW2's inclusion on this list isn't meant to denote it as a bad game, far from it, more that it is one that didn't live up to the hype surrounding the series long-awaited return to the Second World War.
