10 Video Games You Won't Believe Got REJECTED

3. Prey 2

The original Prey was an amazingly unique experience, one possibly sullied by the 2017 reboot. Now, whatever opinions you may have of one or the other, it’s mere speculation that the reboot had anything to do with Prey 2’s cancellation. In fact, it’s arguable that the cancelled sequel vaguely morphed into the 2017 version.

Focusing on Prey 2, the story was to be loosely tied to the events of the original. A plane crash into The Sphere would lead to combat and unconsciousness for Killian Samuels. He would then wake up on an alien planet as a bounty hunter. Running into protagonist of the first game, Killian tries to continue his bounty hunter life, post-amnesia.

The issue here is that the rights to the game switched hands. From 3D Realms to Bethesda, who handed development to Human Head Studios. Rumours then suggest that Arkane Studios, who later released the 2017 reboot, had a hand in trying to salvage Prey 2, to no good end. Then, in 2014, after almost a decade of development, Bethesda announced Prey 2’s cancellation, only to release the reboot a few years later.
