10 Violent Video Game Moments That Were Incredibly Satisfying
4. This Knife Throw - Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Remember when Call of Duty was held as the new pinnacle of gaming? Modern Warfare's 1 and 2 had a certain aura around them across the run-up to release and far beyond; there was just something about the instillment of online perk-based multiplayer that satisfied thousands of us. Alongside solid campaigns that transcended their genre with things like letting you play out the death of Sgt. Paul Jackson or that of a terrorist inside an airport, was an overall production and development team that still had passion behind them rather than dollar signs, and it showed. The road of Modern Warfare 2's story is one paved with twists, turns and immensely well-crafted set-pieces, and in the closing few missions you finally find out who your enemy really is. Lt. Sheperd then stabs your character, only for you to later pluck the knife back out your chest as he fights with your partner Price. The two of them tussle for only a few seconds as control switches back to you, and with only the knife in-hand and a reticule on-screen, all it takes is to line it up with Sheperd's face to skewer him right through the eye, saving Price's life in the process. Perfect.
