10 Ways Rare Can Save Sea Of Thieves

7. More Enemy & Quest Types

There are two main enemy types in Sea of Thieves: Skeletons and snakes.

The latter don't even move.

Seriously, combat outside of PVP boils down to blocking and swiping at skeletons, or dodging snakes that auto-poison you if you walk too close.

It simply isn't enough, and even though the skeletons can appear with bigger health bars and in a variety of getups depending on whether they're the target of a quest or not, they still animate the exact same way.

Yes, this is another foundational "fix", but we need quest design that isn't just "go to place, pick up/kill thing, bring back item". We need a huge array of foes that, sure, might have to be centred on skeletons, grog-swilling pirates and zombies as umbrella designs, but would provide variety in their attacks and aesthetic.

Maybe you'd need to work as a team to bring one down, maybe another is better fought one-on-one by countering to expose a weak spot. There is SO.MUCH that can be done with the history of pirate ephemera, and it is immediately noticeable how little we have to play with.
