10 Ways Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Be Infinitely Better Than GTA V

5. Rewarding Exploration

The most important part of designing an open world is giving players a reason to explore that open world. In Red Dead, you had hunting and survival challenges, random events, buried treasure, many forms of interesting wildlife, and new side missions discovered as you travel. In GTA, there were a couple collectibles and Easter eggs to be found, like the No Country For Old Men recreation or the many alien teases.

However, other than those fun secrets, as well as a few heist members you can discover and recruit, there's not a whole lot that occurs when you explore GTA's world. This is an issue RDR didn't have as much, although Rockstar HAD to fill up the world outside of the many towns with some form of activity, or else exploring the open desert could have become tedious.

What's important with RDR2 is how they structure this open world with the towns and settlements. It's important that the open world feels just as populated as the towns do. With RDR showing how unpredictable and engaging the desert can be, RDR2 would only heighten the experience. More interactions during travels, and more incentives to leave town and brave the Wild West.
