10 Ways Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Be Infinitely Better Than GTA V
4. The Score

GTA V's 80's-influenced score greatly accompanied the many set pieces throughout the campaign and combat situations. This, alongside the game's many licensed songs, solidified Rockstar's reputation of having amazing soundtracks. However, it was with RDR that Rockstar hit their peak. The time period was emulated perfectly, and the authenticity and quality of the music was second to none .
Every combat situation, every quiet moment out in the wild, even walks through town have musical accompaniment that furthers immersion and player enjoyment. Unlike GTA, which typically only has the score playing during story missions (due to the option of radios outside of missions), RDR's music is always present, and it perfectly encapsulates each gameplay situation.
There are very few licensed songs in RDR, but when present, they are utter perfection. The entrance into Mexico, the ride back to John's family, both heightened moments due to the flawless song choices.
We have Bill Elm and Woody Jackson to thank for both the scores of Red Dead, and as long as they're back for the sequel, there's little doubt the next soundtrack will be anything but outstanding.
