10 Ways To Make 2017 A Great Year For Video Games
9. The End Of 'Season' Games
Let me make this clear - I'm not talking about Telltale Games (that is coming later), I'm talking about not getting all of my content for a game until certain dates or until whenever "Season Two" starts.
Recent games like Rainbow Six: Siege and Street Fighter V are both guilty of doing this - especially the latter, who are expecting players to pay more money to be able to fight with any of the new season two fighters that should already be in the game in the first place.
This isn't great for gamers who just got their copy of the game and didn't get the opportunity to get any Season One items. Even Hitman is going seasonal, which, as a fan, is a scary thought.
I know that DLC is what helps drive video game sales nowadays, but giving your audience a completed game should come first as a developer. Paying sixty dollars for a portion of a game is no way to remain sustainable in the long run, and I would hope that 2017, that trend is just fazed out of the gaming lexicon.
