10 Weirdest Excuses For Video Game Bosses
3. Genola / Gurlugon - Metal Gear Solid: Special Missions/Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
These incredible, unstoppable titans of terror never made it into the main game as an official part of the story, instead only appearing in the virtual reality missions and bonus levels.
The Variety mode in MSG: Special Missions is challenging enough, demanding players to pull off multiple tricky tasks with limited ammo and other restrictions to really make them sweat. Then Genola shows up.
Genola, an unlockable boss, turns out to be a fifty-foot Genome Alaskan guard, the kind you usually find in the snowy areas of the main game.
A second battle can also be played, where a second Genola arrives. You need to blast them both with a rocket launcher in order to defeat them. After all, they’re slowly heading towards an unconscious Meryl near your position.
The Gurlugon is pretty much the same, except it’s a giant version of a Russian soldier, and it appears after a boss battle for Raiden rather than Snake.
Genola, alongside, Mecha-Genola, are also bosses for the different Snake types. The mechanical fiend even drops drones to scan the dark arena that you fight in, in order to land an attack.
Most battles start with a linear sneaking section where you must dodge the monster. Then, you need to defeat them by dropping a tin can on them, using dirty magazines, or just shooting their face with explosives.
Unconventional, but always fun.
