10 Worst Areas In Dark Souls

6. Shrine Of Amana

Similar complaints come up when you talk about the Shrine of Amana in Dark Souls 2. This time, the enemies casting spells do it from even further away and they home in on you. Not only are there large and hard-hitting melee enemies, there are also Aberrations that lurk under the water, appearing only to leap out at you when you're nearby.

Going slow and using a bow to snipe and lure enemies one at a time is time-consuming and tedious. Especially when you consider that the water you are forced to walk in for most of the level has steep drops hidden within it that will result in instant death.

This is another place where using a torch is helpful, if only to give you a slightly better idea of when you're about to plunge out of existence, but using a torch means you can't use a bow. Better stock up on flame butterflies to relight every time you put it away.

As well as all this, there is a red NPC invasion towards the end, Poison Brumers that break your gear, and if you want to collect the soul and armour of King Vendrick, you'll need to come back here again later.
