10 Worst Areas In Dark Souls

5. Tomb Of The Giants

Take everything you thought you knew about darkness being an unfair obstacle to overcome and apply it here.

The Tomb of the Giants in the original Dark Souls is pitch black, and bringing a light source of some sort is almost mandatory unless you are supremely confident in where you're going. There are prism stones placed on the ground at some key points, but it is still a very slow task to edge your way through the level, never knowing when your next step will drop you to your death.

This lack of light doesn't seem to affect the many enemies down here however. The archers will snipe your face off from half a mile away, the Skeleton Dogs will leap out of nothingness to attack you, and the Bone Towers will distract you long enough for the fake Pinwheels to pepper you with spells.

This is also where you can be kicked down a pit by Trusty Patches to battle two hollow NPCs in an effort to save a third. Do yourself a favour and either bring the Skull Lantern, or wear the Sunlight Maggot, and this area should just be irritating instead of impossible.
