6. Barthandelus – Final Fantasy XIII

Barthandelus is the evil love child of an enduring, high HP boss like FFXV's Adamantoise, crossed with a hard-hitting and cheap attacks like that of the Lich in the previous entry.

Barthandelus' second form constantly barrages your party with his laser attack which disables magic and physical attacks. Super! This would be an interesting challenge if I didn't literally mean constantly. The party is in an almost permanent state of being unable to inflict any real damage on this infuriating boss - something you really need to be able to do against an enemy with 3.3 MILLION HP.

Try to buff yourself up and he casts Apoptosis, immediately undoing all your hard work. Finally, he also regularly casts the hard-hitting Thanatosian Laughter which deals massive damage.

To top it all off, proving just how cheap this battle can be, if you take too long killing him, he will cast his equivalent of Doom, instantly killing the entire party, and taking you right back to square one.
