Notable Launch Games: Combat Blackjack Street Racer Indy 500 Although the Atari 2600 is not technically the first home video game console, it is rightfully remembered for being the first one to really find its way into the hearts and homes of gamers everywhere. It would go on to revolutionize the video game industry in several ways. One of which was in pioneering the idea of a disappointing launch lineup. At the time of its release, the Atari 2600 featured none of the games that would eventually turn it into a beloved piece of video game history. Outside of the somewhat revolutionary multiplayer of Combat, Atari 2600 owners had to get their thrills from such exciting titles as Blackjack (in which you play Blackjack) and Basic Math (in which you answer basic math questions). Needless to say, the system was a long way away from Space Invaders in terms of quality. You know, I'm really starting to wonder how the Atari 2600 ever got the chance to revolutionize the home gaming industry in the first place when it attempted to sell systems off the entertainment value of math problems.
