10 Worst Things Gaming Did In 2024
4. Perpetual/Indefinite Delays
It’s always a letdown to learn that a highly anticipated game is being pushed back significantly (or even indefinitely), and that happened quite a bit in 2024.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, for instance, was going to be unleashed on November 15, but Ubisoft announced two months prior that it was being relocated to February 14, 2025 so that the creative team had more time to “polish and refine the experience.” As for long-awaited action RPG Avowed, Xbox officially moved it from late 2024 to February 18, 2025 “to give players’ backlogs some breathing room.”
In addition, the routinely comedic Devolver Digital held a self-deprecating show (Devolver Delayed Awards 2024) in November to honor three titles – Baby Steps, Skate Story, and Stick It to the Stickman – that are now slated to launch in 2025.
Plus, series fans will have to wait until 2025 to see how eerie Little Nightmares III turns out since Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Europe “want to make sure [they] give [it] the care and love it deserves.” Beyond them, multiple other projects – including Ark 2, Terminator: Survivors, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – were scheduled out of 2024.
Hopefully, all of them will be well worth the wait.
