7. Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator

On paper, a taxi-based title doesn't sound particularly appealing. With that said, games like Crazy Taxi and The Simpsons: Road Rage were fun, since they were filled with personality and charm.

Unfortunately Taxi Life does away with all that. Rather than dashing through the streets or collecting power-ups, you have to obey the speed limit, stay fuelled, and roll down the windows to keep the passenger cool. Basically, this driving simulator feels more like a job than a game.

But it's not all bad. By driving efficiently and hitting your deadlines, you can unlock upgrades, like fixed costs and cheaper, which are all laid out in an impressively structured skill tree.

However, this upgrade system is wasted since the gameplay itself isn't enjoyable, mainly due to the badly programmed AI. Players cannot pre-empt when traffic forms, meaning they'll fail to drop their client at their destination on time through no fault of their own. It's frustrating when you fail the mission despite obeying the law purely because a clueless walker or a reckless driver bumps into your vehicle.

Taxi Life looks beautiful and the controls can't be faulted, but anyone who gives it a shot is in for a rough ride.
