Resident Evil Survivor is a rather awkward, ugly and deeply flawed video game. As the first spin-off and only the fourth game in the series, it's a rather odd way to close out RE's time on the original PlayStation.

That said, there's a lot of great in this game from a story perspective. It shows players the Tyrant production facility on Sheena Island and gives several updates on events following the original games. The file "Report on Destroyed Raccoon City", which is penned by RE3's Nicholai, highlights an Umbrella perspective on the tragedy and also mentions the apparent death of Wesker. However, it's biggest piece of info is the mention of "Lord Spencer's estate".

Despite the Spencer Mansion being named as such since the first game, no mention of a person of that name existed in the games until this point. There had been minor references in supplemental material but Survivor broke new ground by confirming that the estate was named after a figurehead.

This would of course go on to be fleshed out in Zero and Code: Veronica as Ozwell, the head of Umbrella, who would finally appear on-screen in RE5... but his first mention is in, of all things, Resident Evil Survivor.
