Resident Evil is a game series popular with speedrunners for whilst it's initial playthroughs may be slow, steady and often trepditatious, once a player knows what to expect they can be extremely satisfying to run again and again to beat your best time. As such, fans have discovered plenty of neat tricks to get them through games quicker.

The most noteable of these is RE4's Ditman Glitch, name after the GameFAQs user who discovered it. When equipping the Striker shotgun, if the player aims and then opens the inventory before the laser sight appears, Leon will get a sudden boost of accleration. All actions are performed at roughly 1.5x speed until they're interrupted by certain baked-in animations and Leon's additional speed means it's possible to break outside of the game's intended boundaries, performing massive skips.

Whilst the glitch doesn't appear in the 2023 remake, Capcom at least paid homage to it. The game features collectible charms for Leon's attaché case that have different passive effects. One of these increases Leon's run speed by 8%. It is, of course, a Striker shotgun.
