11 Cancelled Superhero Games That Would Have Been Amazing
3. Spider-Man Classic
Building upon Web of Shadows' key mechanic of swapping on the fly between two distinctly different playstyles (in the original it was the Venom-powered Spidey and the regular red-and-blue version), its sequel would have moved away from having two different versions of the Web Head in favour of having you choose between the classic superhero and... Wolverine?!.
That's already enough to make this cancellation a tragedy, but throw in a plot headed up by both Carnage and a downright terrifying version of Mysterio, as well as featuring cameos by other Marvel heroes, and Spider-Man Classic could have been one of the best superhero games of the last generation.
Unfortunately though, despite resonating with hardcore fans, the majority of gamers were fed up with open-world Spider-Man titles after Web of Shadows, and when that release bombed, development on the series was moved to an entirely new studio.
