11 Cancelled Superhero Games That Would Have Been Amazing

2. Gotham By Gaslight

Although players have enjoyed some pretty good Batman games over the years, they've never really deviated from the basic stories and look of The Dark Knight universe. Gotham By Gaslight on the other hand would have flipped everything you thought you knew about the Caped Crusader on its head.

Taking the superhero back to Victorian England for an atmospheric, semi open-world game that would have had players stalking enemies from both the fog-shrouded streets of London as well as its rooftops, THQ's game wasn't that dissimilar to what would later become Arkham Asylum.

Unfortunately, despite the game being prototyped, the publisher failed to secure the rights to either the hero or the Gotham By Gaslight comic, and the game was canned shortly after.

It's a shame though, as not only does the game look pretty damn good for its time (look at those cape physics!), it would have provided players with an insight into an interesting alternate depiction of the Caped Crusader that probably won't ever be caputured in video game form again.
