11 Former Wii U Exclusives The Nintendo Switch Can Save
6. The Wonderful 101
The Wonderful 101: think a little sprinkle of arcade beat 'em up mixed with a dash of the superhero genre and a throwback to Viewtiful Joe. A quirky yet weird and wonderful game, this has players controlling not just one, but a whole crowd of heroes to beat up the Geathjerk - an alien terrorist group. The key to success was uniting the group into larger, powerful forms to take on the larger boss beasts.
It was a fast-paced brawler played from an isometric perspective: retro to the core despite the shiny HD graphics. Developed by Platinum Games, Wonderful 101 basically felt like playing a Saturday morning cartoon of the 1980s or 1990s.
Truth be told, the game wouldn't lose much being ported to Switch. The Wii U gamepad integration was fairly minimal and involved moving around interiors of buildings and choosing the power-ups you wanted to battle with.
Stripping the game of those features would be no big loss, and the portable nature of the Switch would make it easier to develop the half-baked multiplayer.
