11 Former Wii U Exclusives The Nintendo Switch Can Save
5. New Super Mario Bros.
New Super Mario Bros. U was very well-received by critics and fans when it launched. Technically the third entry in the 'New' series, the only real innovation it brought was to offer a Boost Mode which allowed the player with the gamepad to place platforms to assist everyone else. It sold 5.75 million in total.
The earlier New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold 30 million and the even earlier DS game in 2006 sold 31 million. Clearly, there's still a good appetite for 2D Mario platform games way into the 21st century.
Nintendo absolutely must capitalize on the phenomenal success of Super Mario Odyssey by getting another proper Mario title out this year to help keep the overall profile of the Switch high in the public consciousness.
To make the jump to Switch, it should drop U from the name, keep the New Super Luigi content and consider throwing in all the levels from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
