11 Former Wii U Exclusives The Nintendo Switch Can Save
4. Pikmin 3
Pikmin has to be the game with the greatest number of control schemes across different Nintendo machines. Originally a GameCube exclusive from 2001, back them Pikmin used the left analogue stick to move Olimar and the B button plus right C-stick for calling and grouping pikmin.
It made the jump to Wii using the pointer and nunchuk for more precise controls under the "New Play Control" banner in 2008-9. Finally, Pikmin 3 in 2013 used a combination of touchscreen and buttons on the Wii U pad.
The Wii U version wasn't just in high demand from fans given the 9 year gap between it and number 2. When it showed up it featured glorious HD graphics, new Pikmin types like rock and even had DLC with battle modes and treasure hunts. Off-TV Play was also possible.
Getting this one to Switch should be relatively easy because of the control options available: gyroscope, touchscreen and buttons can all come into play in portable mode, and the game could rely on buttons alone with the right Joy-Con docked. With a score of 87 on MetaCritic, Pikmin would expand the Switch audience which is Nintendo's main goal in the second year of life with LABO.
