11 Former Wii U Exclusives The Nintendo Switch Can Save
3. Super Mario Maker
Super Mario Maker has sold 4 million copies worldwide, and was a Wii U title that made clever use of the gamepad. Unlike some other Wii U games, the swap between TV and gamepad wasn't annoying. The stylus for grid-based level design worked brilliantly and actually mimicked how Mario levels were designed for the original NES title.
On the surface this might seem a bad game to port across as there's no stylus for Switch AND potentially no way to edit when in docked mode. Intrepid players have found some ways of making a stylus work, but there's no reason why it can't work with fingers and thumbs so long as the screen displays the icons and grid squares big enough and thumbsticks control of the cursor could work, too.
Equally, the gyroscope could be a third way to input for making levels: on Splatoon 2's spawn selection map it works almost like a mouse or pointer so might be a workaround for making Mario levels on Switch.
We'll just have to wait and see what the creatives at Nintendo decide.
