When Battlefront 2 launched in late 2017, players released that in order to unlock special characters like Darth Vader, they either had to grind through the game for up to 40 hours or spend real money to unlock them.

This caused many fans to complain on websites like Reddit, where one gamer expressed their anger at not being able to have access to one of the most iconic Star Wars characters in a Star Wars game.

This was when an official EA Community Team member responded by saying they wanted to give players "a sense of pride and accomplishment" for unlocking different heroes.

Many gamers saw this lie as another pathetic attempt to justify loot boxes in games and downvoted the comment into oblivion. In fact, it was entered into the Guinness Book Of World Records as the most downvoted comment on all of Reddit.

This horrible quote is remembered not just as the greatest excuse EA have given for their greed, but is also hailed as reason why conversations about microtransactions entered the mainstream media and has resulted in a number of countries either investigating them or outright banning them from all games.
