11 Gaming Industry Quotes That Aged Horribly

5. "Are You A Developer?"

Lawrence Hryb, also known by his Xbox Live Gamertag as Major Nelson, is the Director for Programming at Xbox Live and was a vital part of the development of both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. So when he was at E3 in 2013, he did many interviews about the unveiling of the Xbox One and its various features.

After answering questions from multiple gaming journalists, Hryb agreed to do an impromptu interview with YouTuber AngryJoe about the Xbox One and answer questions some of his fans had about the console.

Everything seemed to be going fine for the first half of the interview, but when AngryJoe started asking about the always-online systems within the Xbox One, Hryb started to get a little agitated.

When asked if it was possible to turn off these systems post launch, Hryb takes hold of the microphone and asks AngryJoe if he is a developer, before stating that it is not as simple as flicking a switch. Ironically, that is exactly what Microsoft would do two days later.

The interview created unnecessary drama for Hryb while also demonstrating how fickle statements from leading members of the gaming industry can really be.
